This program requires NewGui 1.4.5beta .
older versions will work also, but will
show certain bugs which have been fixed
in 1.4.5beta and later.
Install:
########
As you can read this your installation is nearly finished :)
Copy the whole directory to your hd.
LVD-2010 Setup :
################
To operate the Amiga Mediaserver you must have a working
LAN-Connection to your LVD-2010.
Add the IP address of your Amigaserver to the LVD-2010
as a new Mediaserver.
If you have started the Amiga Mediaserver successfully you
can now connect to it.
Start of Amiga Mediaserver:
###########################
1. Start Miami or another TCP/IP Stack
2. Start Mediaserver_GUI
3. Configure your served directories
4. Save your config
5. Press "START"
The server should now be started:
To check :
----------
start a shell
enter "status"
a line like this should be visible among others
Process 20: Loaded as command: Work:Internet/Mediaserver/bin/mediaserver
or check it with your LVD-2010.
Remove default config:
######################
Delete the file named "datenfile".
A new one will be created if you use "Save" the next time
you use "mediaserver_gui".
If you have any problems:
#########################
1. No Connection
make sure your box is accessible from the amiga.
traceroute or just PING the box.
You must setup the BOX`s internal network configuration!
2. No Connection
Does your server run?
3. Some files are not served
they do not have "[]*_-\\|" or something similar in theire
filenames?
The server leaks the ability to translate these none charsymbols yet.
that will change if necessary.
4. The LVD does not show any chooseable virtual directory i have entered!
This line "virtual name:/dh0/" in your configfile would cause the server
to show an entry at it`s startuppage named "virtual name" which leads
to "dh0:" . You can use ANY assign as root for your vname i.e. /cd0/
for "cd0:" /work/ for "work:" aso.
5. The server startpage does not show new entries I made!
You have to "Save" and restart the server with "Stop"/"Start" before
new vnames will be shown.
6. After i forced a shutdown while transmitting data to the LVD,
i could not restart the server or at leats, i can access it anymore.
What to do depends on your stack. Miami has some problems to reassign the
used port if a stop was forced while transmitting data. Wait a minute
and try again, if it does not start , restart miami!
7. I have an a1200 with pcmcia network card and the movie stops
from time to time.
Your network connection is to slow to serve the movie in realtime.
The BOX caches the movie and starts playback if the buffer is full
again. Reduce the used bitrate in the movie or invest in a better
lan connectivity. i.e. use Genesis instead of Miami. This will help
a lot with pcmcia networkcards.
8. I get 100% Cpu usage..
The bitrate is high. Serve a file which uses less video bitrate.
9. for seconds I get 100% Cpu usage and then it`s around 10%...
The box caches data. If you have an mp3 i will load app. 1.2 MB
before it starts playback. When the cache is full, the box loads
just what it needs to refill the cache. This takes much fewer
resources as filling the cache at connectionstart.
10. Can I do something else on my amiga while serving data?
Yes you can, if you server small bitrates like mp3 or mpeg1.
11. I have two LVD`s, why can`t i connect withthe second one
while i watch a movie withthe first one?
Because, one client is already to much for your amiga ;)
